Parish History – 1849 to 2017

Our parish history book is now available to purchase.  A History of the Anglican Parish of Lower Hutt, Doers of the Word : 1849 – 2017 follows on from Peter Butt’s history written in 1978. A team of parishioners has updated the history and the 108 pages cover the major events of the last 180 years, with a chapter on each vicar’s tenure, and chapters devoted to All Saints’, the music tradition, the historic graveyard, the office, the Bishop’s medallists, Chilton St James School, and more. Beautifully presented and illustrated in colour, this book will be sure to kindle memories of a very vibrant shared parish life. Why not give a gift, birthday or Christmas present to someone you know who is or has had a connection with the parish.

The books will be blessed by Bishop Eleanor at the St James’ Patronal service on Sunday 29 July at 10am, and will be available to collect after the service.
