Virtually Green

As Christians there is only one response to environmental issues. We begin with prayer and then we act. Our earth is in fact God’s Earth. Environmental issues are not God-given. They stem mostly from human actions. Collectively we need to right the wrongs we have done to the Earth.

Unfortunately it is always far more difficult to put something right than it is to start from scratch. We have to undo the damage caused to the environment before we can realise a new Garden of Eden. For the human race to achieve this today, the strong must protect rather than exploit the weak. The wealthy must give to the poor. Enemies need to put aside differences and work collectively. Christ spoke of these things in his time and nothing has changed. His teachings are as relevant today as they were then. As Christians we have in our faith accepted the ultimate “renewable resource” – Jesus Christ.

Virtually Green is our attempt to come to grips with some of the environmental issues in our Parish at St James – personally, at home, in our businesses and in the Church itself.

Our prayers and our actions are simply our response to the environmental issues of today.
