Belmont Archdeaconry Confirmation Service

The Belmont Archdeaconry Confirmation Service and Celebration of 150 years of Ministry in the Diocese of Wellington.
Despite the weather giving us a robust reminder of the hardships faced by the early settlers, a good crowd from the many Parishes in the Diocese attended. The service was led by representatives of most Parishes. Jason Chin from Hutt International Boys School read the Old Testament lesson, and Chilton’s Seraphim Choir sang the anthem. Our Band, supported by some choir members, led the congregational singing.
Bishop Tom linked the lessons learnt from the pilgrimage to our Christian journey, and spoke of the ordinary men Jesus chose as his first disciples. He conclude by saying, we too are ordinary disciples. “ordinary we are, but in Christ we are empowered to do extraordinary things.”
The three confirmands, were all from St James’: Jalen Henry, Moana Hepburn and Elizabeth Prasad. Five people re-affirmed their Baptismal vows, including Robert Ashe of this parish.
The Supper after the Service gave us an opportunity to meet the confirmands, and to meet up with new friends from the pilgrimage.
